Music in Pictures

The students at MHS are participating in a wonderful Art Contest sponsored by the Rosemary Beach Foundation entitled, "Music in Pictures." Students were asked to listen to several wonderful scores by the composer, Camille Saint-Saens entitled, "Carnival of the Animals." Students are to use their imaginations after listening to the classical music and then interpret what they hear through their visual art. Combining the animal they choose, carnival-like aspects, and music was an exciting challenge. This challenge has produced some amazing artwork. Thank you Rosemary Beach Foundation for sponsoring this wonderful competition!

Keith Haring & Broadway

For the month of September, MHS students are studying about American pop artist Keith Haring. His artwork inspired many people and always displayed iconic symbols. In music class, students are studying the infamous musical genius duo, Rodgers and Hammerstein. We are discussing and viewing video clips of their work from the Sound of Music and The King and I. Students are also learning about Broadway and its significance and history. The first Headliners practice was this past week. It was terrific to see so many 4th and 5th graders show up for practice! It is going to be a wonderful year. Keep watching for upcoming events!
